Calling all curious 3rd through 5th grade girls: learn coding, get creative with design, and explore computer science this summer with Girls Who Code (At Home) Club with the West Wyandotte Library! We will meet on Zoom every Thursday starting June 3 through July 22 at 2:00 to discuss chapters of The Friendship Code and learn the basics of coding and computer science together.
Girls Who Code Club is a community of 3rd through 5th grade girls who design, code, read, and explore the world of computer science together. Each meeting, taking place every other Thursday, features activities, discussions, and creative challenges based on the best-selling Girls Who Code book The Friendship Code by Stacia Deutsch. GWC Club is designed to expose girls to bravery, resilience, and computational thinking through fun activities, social opportunities, inspiring stories of women in technology, and creative challenges.
Get to know other girl coders and learn computer science with us by registering today! Sign up is required, so don't wait! To sign up, coders must be entering 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade in the fall 2021 semester, and have access to the Internet and a computer or tablet equipped with Zoom and the ability to work on Scratch coding at home. For details on technical requirements or other questions, contact Ms. Jacqueline at jbelden@kckpl.org.
