Join Turner Community Library and the National Wrasslin' League for a bilingual storytime with NWL wrestler Marti Belle! Marti will read stories in both English and Spanish, and we will all do a wrestling themed craft.
Marti Belle is a fiery Latina who’s not afraid to get her hands a little dirty. This life-long athlete has called many places home, from the Dominican Republic to New York City to Cleveland, OH to now residing in Kansas City, MO.
A dual-sport athlete, Marti played varsity volleyball for four years and was the starting varsity softball pitcher for three seasons at Washington Irving High School in NYC.
Upon graduating from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in 2008, Marti pursued a different kind of education in her chosen vocation—pro wrestling. After learning the ring ropes as a manager/valet for the Brooklyn promotion owned by WWE Hall of Famer Johnny Rodz, Marti trained to become a wrestler debuting in 2009.
During her almost decade long career, Marti has worked for the top women’s wrestling companies, as well as notable indies where she has held singles and tag team gold. Marti signed with IMPACT Wrestling in 2015 as a TNA Knockout, debuting as a member of the Dollhouse. As of January 2017, Marti joined the NWL broadcast team as a backstage correspondent and social media reporter. Marti was one of the 32 women selected for WWE’s Mae Young Classic where she represents the Dominican Republic.
