Event Details
In Sanskrit, Mandala means "circle." In art, Mandalas take on a circular design, radiating out from the center with intricate and beautiful designs. You may already be familiar with the Tibetan Buddhism practice of sand Mandalas, which are made with detailed design and colorful crushed stone. The use of Mandalas across numerous cultures and religions signifies their power as a therapeutic tool - connecting with the beauty of nature by imitating its design through art.
Join us at the Mr. & Mrs. F.L. Schlagle library on March 18th from 10 am to Noon for a morning of nature art-making and meditation. We will learn about the history and symbolism of Mandalas in nature. During a short hike, we will hunt for examples of mandalas in the natural world. Then, setting our intentions after a brief guided meditation, we will use natural and found objects to create our own nature Mandala art.
This program will take place outside and is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather. Advanced registration is required.
*Masks are required inside library buildings per USD 500 guidelines*
