Atlatl is an ancient tool/weapon predating the bow and arrow. An atlatl creates more length in your arm, which gives you more leverage to throw your spear (or dart) farther and faster then just throwing a spear alone. Although the oldest known atlatl was found in 10,000-year-old ice sheets in Yellowstone, it is still used in modern times for hunting large game such as deer. In this ADULTS ONLY program, staff will teach you the correct way to throw atlatl and we will spend time perfecting our aim with a target. Registration is required as space is limited. Meet on the deck of the library and we will head down to the field together.
