Program Description

Event Details

MIDWESTERN is a hybrid poetry/photography show based on poems from my first three collections and photographic prints from my recent book MIDWESTERN, released from Kansas City's Spartan Press. The poems and photos explore the beauty, mythology, and decline of the American Midwest. The show has hung in several galleries in the Midwest over the past year, including the Normal Public Library in Normal, Illinois; Presser Performing Arts Center in Mexico, Missouri; the Mississippi River Gallery in Hannibal, Missouri; and the Carbondale, Public Library in Carbondale, Illinois. MIDWESTERN is scheduled to hang at the HUB Cultural Center in Rushville, Illinois, and the Youngstown Public Library in Youngstown, Ohio, next year. A feature about the show can be heard on Normal, Illinois's NPR affiliate at this link: https://www.wglt.org/post/glt-datebook-poet-and-photographer-explores-decay-heartland
