A playfully delightful children’s book, The Willoughbys is full of references to famous works of children’s literature. The book centers around the 4 Willoughby children. They don’t much like their parents and think they would be better off being orphaned, so they come up with a plan.
Realistic it’s not. Fun it is. I enjoyed following the adventures of the Willoughby children and the other characters in the book. Adults reading it may appreciate the references to various stories. While younger readers may be less likely to pick up on the references, they will still read an enjoyable story.

The Willoughbys by Lois Lowry
In this tongue-in-cheek take on classic themes in children's literature, the four Willoughby children set about to become "deserving orphans" after their neglectful parents embark on a treacherous around-the-world adventure, leaving them in the care of an odious nanny.
