Program Description

Event Details

Together we will explore the history of the dramatic fight to win women's voting rights through reading and discussion of a diverse cast of leading characters that will challenge your current thoughts about voting rights. We will do this by reading 5 books in 5 months and having an in-depth discussion about the readings as part of a series called Let's Talk About It: Women's Suffrage.

April's virtual book discussion is on Vanguard: How Black Women Broke Barriers, Won the Vote, and Insisted on Equality for All by Martha S. Jones. In documenting Black women's intersectional struggles with racism and sexism, Jones shows us the determination, courage and political savvy they brought and continue to bring to the fight for equal justice. The first 8 people to register will get a free copy of the book to keep. Upon registration, you will be emailed the Zoom link for this virtual program.
