An Author Talk with Richard Paradise

Our May forum will feature an Author Talk by Richard Paradise on his book Living Life Riverside: Our Nightmarish Pursuit of the American Dream.  This is a tragicomedy about the experience the Paradise and his wife Julie had of buying and renovating a hotel at the age of 50.

The author has a good sense of humor and is an interesting and entertaining storyteller in person as well as in print.  He comments that “unfortunately, our dream turned into a nightmare due to a variety of circumstances unforeseen and red flags ignored, including the 2008 recession, a local bank owned by a pack of avaricious cowboys, and a previous owner whose only truthful disclosure regarding the property was that it was haunted—the only disclosure that we hadn’t believed at the time.”

Richard currently lives and works in Overland Park, KS with his wife, Julie.

Next Chapter Kansas City offers opportunities for persons to learn about options for work, service, and learning after leaving their primary careers.  Join us for an informative and enjoyable presentation that focuses on an entrepreneurial venture!
