For the month of April, we will be showing movies set in jail. The opportunity for escape is ever present in the genre, but these films will have the added wrinkle of depicting or expressing the need for rehabilitation and reform.
On this night, we are watching John Cromwell's 1950 film "Caged" starring Eleanor Parker, Agnes Moorehead, and Hope Emerson.
A gentle, naive, pregnant 19-year-old widow is slowly, inexorably ground down by the hardened criminals, sadistic guards, and matron at a woman's prison. Will she be the same person when her sentence is up?
