***INCLEMENT WEATHER UPDATE!*** EAGLE DAYS CANCELLED for 1/15/22

1/15/22, 8:15 am  -Due to extreme cold and unsafe road conditions for patrons, staff, birds, and volunteers, it has been decided that Eagle Days for Saturday, January 15 will be CANCELLED.  We are very sorry for this unfortunate situation. The Schlagle Library will still be open from noon-5:00 pm.  We will have Eagle activities and take home craft kits.  Binocular checkout will still be available for birdwatching on the lake and nature trail.  Eagle Days will resume on Sunday, January 16 from noon-4:00. We encourage you to visit our Event Brite page: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fl-schlagle-library-eagle-days-live-bird-viewing-tickets-195997964187 to sign up for another time slot.  Thank you for your understanding.

1/15/22, 7:15 am  -Due to current road conditions, we will postpone the opening of Eagle Days to NOON on Saturday, January 15.  We apologize for any inconvenience.  We encourage you to visit our Event Brite page: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fl-schlagle-library-eagle-days-live-bird-viewing-tickets-195997964187 to sign up for another time slot if you were supposed to attend a morning time.  Again, we apologize and still hope to see you this afternoon or tomorrow!  Stay safe and warm!

Join us for this milestone anniversary of our annual Eagle Days event; 20 years!  This year will look a little different as we are working around a pandemic, but we are sure you will still have a great time!  This event has something for everyone so bring the entire family. There will be live birds of prey, including a Bald Eagle, take-home crafts for kids, birdwatching on the lake, binocular checkout, activity stations on the trail, tons of photo ops, and much more!

The event will take place simultaneously at two locations at Wyandotte County Lake; the FL Schlagle Library and JP Davis Hall.  To reduce overcrowding, advance reservations will be required at both locations to view the birds on our Event Brite page: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fl-schlagle-library-eagle-days-live-bird-viewing-tickets-195997964187

Until further notice, masks will be required indoors for all participants ages 5+, per USD 500 and Wyandotte County guidelines.

We hope to see you there, to help us celebrate the 20th anniversary of this amazing event!

Event hosts and sponsors include: Operation Wildlife, Kansas City Board of Public Utilities, Unified Government of Wyandotte County, Kansas City KS, Kansas City KS Public libraries, USD 500 Kansas City KS Public Schools, and Burroughs Audubon Society of Greater Kansas City.
