Sky watchers of all ages, the Great American Total Solar Eclipse is almost here! On August 21, 2017, all of North America will be treated to a total eclipse of the sun. This phenomenon will not happen again in North America until April 8, 2024, so don't miss it! Join us for this fun, interactive event to learn about eclipses and watch the eclipse. Before the eclipse begins, you will have an opportunity to make a solar and lunar crafts you can combine. Then beginning at 1:02, and behind the safety of special eclipse glasses, we will watch the moon pass between the Earth and the Sun. The first 75 patrons will receive eclipse glasses. Refreshments served! Register here or via phone by calling 913-295-8250 and selecting "4".
Can’t make it to the library on Monday? Come to the Turner Community Library’s Solar Eclipse Pre-Show from 6 to 7 pm on Thursday, Aug. 17. Learn about the viewing schedule, make solar eclipse-themed crafts, and pick up free glasses to safely view the event.
